If you’re unfamiliar with Jiu Jitsu, it’s essentially a grappling-based combat sport that has proven effective against all other forms of fighting in the UFC. We offer classes for children ages 5 and up, including adults throughout the week.

How will Jiu Jitsu improve your life?

1. We are combating the cultural trend toward inactivity, which continues to contribute to diminished health in both children and adults. We aim to cultivate and atmosphere where you feel encouraged and challenged to develop strength, stamina, and practical skills that will give you confidence in your daily grind. We all know we need to be more active, but we also know it's easier to stay active when we're having fun. Modifying behavior is hard, so we offer another avenue for you to enjoy being active, explore creativity, and learn to move in new ways.

2. Jiu Jitsu is rooted in self-defense and at its core, it teaches us how to overcome adversity. While we do not advocate for physical altercations, we believe that everyone should know how to resolve the issue of someone putting unwanted hands on them. Unlike, what many imagine, solutions do not materialize out of circumstance, fighting is a skill and skills require consistent practice to develop proficiency. We invite you to arm yourself with real ability.

3. We whole-heartedly believe in building healthy community, where true friendships, camaraderie, and support can be fostered. Jiu Jitsu attracts a diverse grouping of individuals, where doctors, real estate agents, construction workers, moms, dads, military members, families and many others can find common ground. The mats don't lie. True character is revealed, and everyone must face the same struggles to progress. There is vulnerability in this and that breeds trust. Having a safe place to connect with others is life-giving.

4. Jiu Jitsu is hard, it's about being comfortable in uncomfortable situations. Routinely, practicing this builds resilience and is empowering toward facing any other challenge. Life will never be perfect, and sometimes you will find yourself stuck. Our program will help you grow, learn and make wise decisions under duress.

Fundamentals

We teach the why behind what we do. Starting Jiu Jitsu can be confusing,

and most programs don’t
facilitate the learning process. When different techniques are shown

it can feel like you are
sporadically given cryptic pieces to a puzzle without understanding the

big picture. At 1441, we
approach our teaching by drawing upon fundamental principles that drive a task objective. When the student understands what the goal is, we then suggest different tools and tactics

that can help them meet the objective. In this way, our students learn to become problem solvers and utilize
foundational concepts, rather than individual techniques that may be limited to context. Come try

it out!

Youth BJJ

Kids want to know what they’re made of, they desire to learn, explore, and test themselves. Many are not given the opportunity to truly discover their potential. Still others, fold in the face of
difficulty because no one has taught them how to persevere. We believe that it is important for our kids to learn how to struggle, how to face adversity, and how to overcome. Jiu jitsu is an effective medium for introducing our kids to these skill sets, while also teaching them how to protect
themselves, recognize danger, develop discipline, become aware, move well, and conquer obstacles.
Empower your child, and get them on the mats!

Wrestling

Having the ability to takedown another individual at will, is an incredibly deadly skill set. For grappling and other fight sports, it is invaluable. Further still, modern day no Gi grappling as seen in
the ADCC, is heavily weighted toward submission-style wrestling. At 1441, we are blessed to have a
highly-skilled collegiate wrestler coaching all of our stand-up practices. Here you will refine your
double-leg, single-leg, and high-crotch takedowns, learn the best paths to

the back, and master the
hand fight to set-up your moves. The answer is yes, yes you need this!
